Architecture summer course

CLIENT: Hunan Normal Univesrity, China

Hunan Normal University is a national "211 project" university in China, it also one of the "Ten Famous Universities" in the eyes of international students in China in 2011. The Art College of Hunan Normal University has stable co-operation relationships with many world-renowned universities, such as Musashino Art University, the University of Birmingham, The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Visual Arts, The University of Sydney, and Central Saint Martins College.

This is a two-weeks Central Saint Matins bespoke training program for architecture students, academics, and professional designers. The first week is about the London architecture study visit and the second week is the practice project with studio sessions, site visits, debates, and presentations.

Graphic Design Histories and Futures

CLIENT: 702 design, China

702 is an experimental visual design institution and has been fronting the design industry with its signature experimental approach and its vision in innovation.This 5-day proposed Summer School will be run by the Visual Communication program within the School of Communication at the Royal College of Art. The first two days of the course provide opportunities for delegates to experience the culture of the RCA School of Communication and to engage with international pedagogical and professional directions in the field of Visual Communication.The last three days of the course are based around an interdisciplinary visual communication workshop, during which delegates will be provided with opportunities to explore a range of international perspectives on visual communication practice. The focus and scope of the workshop are designed to respond to cultural environments, individual perspectives, backgrounds, and interests, as well as institutional archives visited during the first part of the course.

The workshop will be introduced by RCA senior tutors and international. Following the introduction participants will be supported in developing large format graphic works which will be discussed within the group and presented in a showcase hosted by the RCA School of Communication on the final day. Note: this is an internal final presentation to students and tutors and not an exhibition.

Delegates will be provided with access to RCA digital and print resources and technical support to enable the creation of the graphic works. At the end of the course, delegates will be provided with opportunities to discuss the future contexts of the works created. On completion of the course, each delegate will receive an RCA Innovation Education certificate of attendance.
